Rise of the Tomb Raider Errors, Crashes, Freeze Issues
However, there are some usual errors and crashes, but nothing that cannot be fixed with some easy-to-follow workarounds.
#1 – Unable to Launch
There have been several reports of users unable to launch the game. While many are waiting for a patch, some users have found running ‘vcredist_x64’ to be a possible solution. You need to head over to the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Rise of the Tomb Raider\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012
#2 – NVIDIA SLI Fix
Users who are facing issues when playing the game with NVIDIA SLI graphics cards, they can follow these configurations in NVIDIA Inspectors:
#3 – No Steam Achievements
There are reports of a few users not obtaining any Steam Achievements for the game. In order to fix this, all you need to do is to restart Steam/PC and start from the very beginning to get your Achievements.
#4 – FPS Drops on a GTX 970
There are a few GTX 970 owners who are experiencing random FPS drops when trying to run the game at max. In order to fix it, you should try and set the ‘Textures’ to ‘High’ instead of ‘Very High’. You can also lower AA to get the same results. As long as you do not exceed the 4GB vRAM, you should be good to go.
#5 – AMD Cards Optimizations
There are some minor tweaks that you can do in order to enhance image quality as well as FPS. Firstly, you need to open ‘eqaa’ and set it to ‘4xeq’ in order to enhance image quality and some FPS.
#6 – No Executable File
We have come across reports of people starting the game just fine only to find out missing executable even after verifying cache and other fixes. However, you can restore your OS to a previous backup and it should work just fine.
#7 – No Audio
There are a few users reporting about no in-game audio. Luckily, this is not an in-game bug and can be fixed rather easily! For this, you need to open up ‘Playback Devices’ and then ‘Configure’ followed by changing the settings in there to get the audio.
#8 – Not Installing
There have been reports of users not being able to install the game. While some users are reporting that restarting PC/Steam helps, others are reporting that uninstalling Steam entirely or installing the game in a different directory other than where the game is pre-loaded to get it to 100%.
