Team Fortress 2 Competitive Confirmed, Beta Sign-ups Started
Competitive matchmaking in Team Fortress 2 has been rumored for a very long time, but somehow the developers did not divulge details on it – until now. The competitive mode has been confirmed by Valve Corporation.
Not only that, the developers have even setup a Steam Group to give the interested parties a platform exclusive to the feature where news and updates will be shared and discussed.
The Team Fortress 2 competitive matchmaking will be beta tested before it is officially released to the public and for that reason, Valve Corporation is also taking beta signups on the given Steam group.
Amidst all that, the most interesting part was that the developers decided to make the announcement on the game’s Subreddit instead of the official website, blog, or even the Steam account. Here’s what the developers have posted on Reddit a couple of hours ago:
We’ve setup a Steam Community Group for the TF2 Competitive Beta here:
We’ll be using this group to send out announcements related to the competitive beta as well as seed beta invites for the expansion of the closed beta. If that sounds like a thing you need, get in here!

Since the feature was first suggested to the developers in April last year, a number of the fans have been waiting for them to make it official. It looks like that time has arrived.
While that is all for now, we will be keeping tabs on the aforementioned group as well as other sources for updates on the Team Fortress 2 competitive matchmaking features. Check back with us later for more.
