Street Fighter V Story Revealed with Free Update Coming in June
Street Fighter V will have a busy few weeks leading to the release of the game on February 16. Today they revealed some story details for the game, and also revealed a free update that will be coming in June to add to the story.
When the game releases, each character will have their own stories which provide a background and what their inspiration is for taking place in the tournament. This will reveal their roles in the game and how their story is related to the other characters. The stories will have a “throwback art style” created by Bengus, a famous Japanese illustrator who has worked on previous Street Fighter games.
Another announcement though has revealed that there will be an update coming in June 2016:
“The character stories serve as a compelling prologue for the Street Fighter V cinematic story expansion, which will be released in June 2016 as a free update to all players. The story takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III and bridges the events that happen in between the two stories. This is the first time in franchise history that fans will be able to play through this type of cinematic story experience in a Street Fighter game.”
So while we will have some story content for the game, the real story is set to start with this content update. As you see from the trailer, this is when things start to get interesting, especially with the Guile tease at the end.
The next Street Fighter V beta will be running from January 30-31 to build up some hype to the release which is not far away now. Coming to PlayStation 4 and PC (including Steam OS) it is good to finally get a story trailer that makes the game feel a little deeper than it felt in previous gameplay videos.
