Dragon Age Lead Write David Gaider Leaves BioWare

David Gaider, one of the best known writers for BioWare has announced he is leaving the company after 17 years. Having worked on some of their biggest games, he is sure to be missed.

The announcement was made via Twitter earlier today:

With Gaider adding in an email to Polygon:

“It was indeed my decision,” he wrote. “One not made easily since BioWare’s been very good to me, and the parting is amicable. It’s simply time to move onto a new challenge. As to where I’m headed next, that announcement will come in due time – today’s about saying goodbye and packing up.”

Having worked on Dragon Age, Baldur’s Game and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic he is known as having written for some of the biggest games, designers characters that we came to know and love. He also wrote Dragon Age: The Silent Grove, a companion comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. Little is known about what he’ll be working on in the future, but he did add another Tweet showing the level of support the community has given him:
