The Division: Agent Origins Introduces the Story of the Agents
In the build up to the release of The Division, Ubisoft are creating a lot of content to build up the hype around the game. One of them is to create a new “Origins” online prequel to give some hints at the story before the start of the game.
The first part of the live action prequel can be seen above, and builds up the conspiracy around the infected money and the connections to Black Friday. It also sees an invasion from “raiders” in what we can assume is the future Dark Zone which is featured in the game. If this is set in one of the safe houses, then this one is obviously not as safe as they would hope.
Here is the description from YouTube which gives some details on the making of the short:
“Inspired by the groundbreaking video game and created in collaboration with innovative YouTube powerhouses CorridorDigital, RocketJump, and Devin Supertramp, Ubisoft proudly presents Tom Clancy’s The Division: Agent Origins. This thrilling live action video series follows the lives of four agents of The Division as they’re activated and leap headfirst into the fight to save New York City.”
At the end of the video you can click on the other “Agent” stories as they are activated for the game. This is like the concept of Sleeper Cells waiting to go into action. A nice touch in the video is giving an explanation as to a real world way the map works, though it does seem a little far-fetched. As The division is set in the near-future though I’m sure a little sci-fi magic can be forgiven.
