It’s been over a decade since the release of Half Life 2, and there’s still nothing concrete about its much sought-after sequel, which has become somewhat of an urban legend in the gaming industry.

The lack of a sequel is still not phasing the fans though – the following of the franchise remains strong as ever, which is why the Polycount forums are buzzing heavily after an artist going by the alias PogoP demoed recreation of City 17 Apartments in Unreal Engine 4.

The results are, as expected, breathtaking. They invoke a strange mix of nostalgia and also excitement of what the possibilities would be when (and if) Half Life 3 arrives – especially if it’s using Epic Games’ all-powerful Unreal Engine 4.

You can even download the scene itself if you want, from here.

Of course, fans would also gladly accept a wonderful remake of Half Life 2 itself. The original Half Life got a similar treatment with a recreation with the Source Engine, which was released as Black Mesa. Perhaps a similar fan-made re-envisioning of the second game could happen using the Unreal Engine 4? A fan can dream, right?
