GTA 5 - Leslie Benzies

Did you know that Leslie Benzies, the producer of GTA 5 had been on a pretty long paid leave from Rockstar? The Rockstar North lead went on a sabbatical in September 2014 and guess what, he has not returned!

This might come as a shock to many because we haven’t seen anything as profitable as Grand Theft Auto, and Leslie was one of the cofounders of the company that made it, but it looks like he figured he had better things to do.

While nothing was confirmed from Rockstar North’s side in all this time, an official statement has been sent out by the company confirming that Leslie Benzies has quit. Here it is:

We can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company. We are very grateful for Leslie’s contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years as we worked together to make some amazing games.

Leslie helped us build an incredible team that will continue to create great experiences for our fans. Leslie will always be a friend to the company and of course we are going to miss him but we wish him the absolute best for the future.

While GTA 5 keeps us busy with mysterious phone number Easter Eggs, recreated Prison Break intros, and rumors of yet another DLC, some major shift are happening at the studio that made the game.

Rockstar North is now being led by Aaron Garbut and Rob Nelson.
