Shenmue 3 has generated plenty of money for its development from Kickstarter and as is the case with games funded through this platform, backers will receive exclusive rewards for their support for the project.

However, Kickstarter isn’t the only way for players to show their support, they can also send in money with PayPal. The problem here is that developers don’t offer PayPal backers exclusive Kickstarter rewards.

But, the decision for whether or not Kickstarter rewards should be handed out to PayPal backers is left on the community in Shenmue 3 case; and we have a final verdict thanks to a recently held poll.

Developers asked Kickstarter backers what they should do with exclusive rewards, 15,110 backers responded to the poll and sadly, PayPal backers aren’t getting Kickstarter Exclusive rewards.

4,670 of the respondents said, “Yes, please make the Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards available on PayPal.” 4,009 respondents on the other hand were against it, “No, Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards are for Kickstarter only.”

The remaining 6,432 answered, “Either is fine with me.”

Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised.

Thank you all for your participation. We hope everyone will continue to let their voices be heard as we go forward with the project.

Keep in mind that backers would still be getting other rewards promised as part of the PayPal campaign. Shenmue 3 is without a release date and is still a long way from hitting shelves.
