Oculus Rift shipments delay

With all of the hype surrounding Virtual Reality it would be easy to assume that 2016 will finally be its year. With this in mind it looks like Oculus Rift is rushing to show it is ready.

Oculus have revealed that the Oculus Rift will be available to pre-order from the website at 8AM Pacific time on January 6:

“Today, we’re excited to announce that pre-orders for Rift will open on Oculus.com at 8am Pacific Time on January 6! We’ll be sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday when pre-orders go live.”

They also reminded people that when they buy the Rift it will come with a copy of Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyie for every pre-order. Hopefully when the headset is finally released there will be plenty of games released that support it, or patched at least.

To celebrate the start of pre-orders, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will also be available for questions during a Reddit AMA. I’m sure there will be plenty of interesting questions asked, as well as answers of course.

While the start of pre-orders is good news, there will be some holdups that may leave fans disappointed. The fact that the Oculus Touch controller is delayed will mean that it won’t be released at the same time as the Rift. This is obviously going to be a disappointment leading up to the release of the Rift.
