Tekken 7 Crossovers End with Akuma on All Platforms
Earlier in December, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the Tekken 7 Fated Retribution version and also introduced Akuma, the Street Fighter famed character to the game. However, this doesn’t mean you are going to get many more crossovers in the game from other franchises.
Michael Murray, the Senior Game Designer for the franchise has confirmed so.
He was talking about their future plans for the game on consoles as well as arcade where the topic of crossover characters and the future of Akuma on consoles came up.
While it has been confirmed (we knew it already) that Akuma is going to make it to the console versions of the game with Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, that is as far as the story goes for crossover characters, he says:
Right now, Akuma is the only one we have planned. [Katsuhiro] Harada and I have always been against guest characters because it kinda throws off the Tekken world and setting. But Akuma fits the bill, and we wanted to tie him into the story so that the crossover is not some cheesy gimmick.
Talking of the new features being brought forward to the game with Fated Retribution, Murray added that “like in the past, these features will also make their way to the console release as well — plus some more.”
That last part about “some more” features is definitely something that the Tekken fans are going to be looking up to, and we’ll make sure you get to know about them with us first. Other new features include new stages, costumes, items as well as characters.
In case you are not sure how Akuma fits into the story of Tekken 7, you can read up on everything that is to know about his connection with the title.
The Fated Retribution version doesn’t have a release date yet, but we will let you know as soon as we find out.
