In today’s video, we discuss something subjective – are video game remasters good or bad? And...
Modern Video Games that Should be Made into TV Shows
A lot of video games have been made into films in the past, but only a few of them did justice to the titles they were based upon. I, on a personal level, think video games are better suited to be made into TV shows.
With upcoming Assassin’s Creed and World of Warcraft films, the trend is becoming commoner with each day passing. Keeping this in mind, here is the list of modern video games that I think should be made into TV shows.
Red Dead Redemption
Created by the same studio who brought us Grand Theft Auto series, L.A. Noire; Red Dead Redemption gives fans a misanthropic look at the early western America, cowboys, and more. The game’s tragic hero John Marston is known for morally ambiguous, a lack of trust, and harsh attitude. The game features an insanely good narrative, well fleshed-out characters, a tragic hero, and explores the darker side of America that we know today – what more can you ask for!
World of Warcraft
Although the movie adaptation of the game is all set to launch, I believe that the game of such a huge scale is better off being made into a TV show. WoW, as fans like to refer to it, is easily one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time and is teeming with rich narrative and potential. The games basically tell the tale of an ongoing fight between humans and orcs with more supernatural creatures joining in with the passage of time. The characters, the setting, violence, and more featured in World of Warcraft can easily rival shows such as Game of Thrones, Vikings, and others in the same genre.
There are plenty of sci-fi TV shows available, but I guess there is some room for a decent space opera with intertwining galaxies and heroic military forces trying to discover things otherwise not known to men. Mass Effect is another game which has everything which can turn it into a brilliant TV show provided that it gets handled by someone worthy! I do not want to engage in the debate whether Commander Shepard should be a lady or a man; all I know is that Mass Effect is certainly a suitable candidate of turning into an awesome show.
A TV show based on Fallout can easily become a blessing or a disaster, based on how it gets handled. This is due to the sheer openness and size of the game, but there is no doubt that it has a lot of potential. Obviously, the showrunners will need to cut a lot of content such as various NPCs and optional missions lest they plan to drag it indefinitely. With Fallout 4 now available, the showrunners can easily focus on a single aspect and carry it from there.
You probably knew about it before even clicking the article. The world and adventures of Geralt of Rivia is probably one of the best things that can happen to small screen. The game tells the story of Geralt, a professional monster slayer, based on Polish book series. Aside from World of Warcraft, this is probably the only game which has the potential of being made into a TV show which can give Game of Thrones a run for its money. The show will have insane combat sequences, romance scenes, a brilliant storyline, and characters that fans will come to love.
These are a few modern games that I think can be made into some of the best TV shows right now! Do not forget to share your own list of games that you would like to see on small screen in the comments section below!
