Akuma in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, How Does He Fit?
One of the biggest announcements made during the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 was Akuma’s inclusion in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution as a playable guest character. Excited as I’m, I cannot help but wonder how two universes are tied together or at least how Akuma fits into FR’s storyline?! This write-up tries to clarify different questions regarding Akuma’s inclusion in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
Alright so now we know that the mysterious man who was standing outside the temple — speaking with Kazumi Mishima — shown in the game’s original trailer was not Heihachi, not Kazuya, but Akuma from Street Fighter. One important thing to note here is that the temple scene is before the events of the original Tekken game. In the recently released trailer, Kazumi makes Akuma vow that if she fails at killing Heihachi, Akuma must do it. Akuma, on the other hand, agrees to do the deed when the times and repay his debt to Kazumi.
Now clearly Kazumi failed which is why we have been seeing Heihachi and Kazuya all these years, but this brings up the question i.e. where Kazumi has been all these years? What debt is Akuma talking about? There are no clear answers to these questions, but we do have some interesting fan theories.
Relationship between Devil Gene and Satsui No Hadou
The first theory dictates that there is some sort of connection between Akuma’s inner power AKA Satsui No Hadou and Devil Gene. Many a fans have speculated that maybe Kazumi helped Akuma draw power from Satsui No Hadou at some point. Others hold the opinion that maybe Akuma did not kill Goutetsu alone and has Kazumi helping him out.
Akuma — Kazuya’s Real Father?
This is just another crazy theory which states that Akuma is Kazuya’s real father which kinds of explain the power possessed by Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama and why Heihachi never possessed this power. However, this is just a speculation. The Devil Gene, as we commonly call it, might have come from Kazumi Mishima which is why Heihachi or Lars Alexanderson never had it.
Kazumi — Goutetsu’s Daughter?
Another interesting theory states that Goutetsu’s daughter who looked after Akuma is none other than Kazumi, but when Akuma killed Goutetsu, he felt that he owed something to her. However, one thing to note here is that Goutetsu’s daughter had a different name, but we never know!
Obviously we cannot be certain until Fated Retribution officially comes out, but there are numerous possibilities as how to Mishima Saga will end! It will be interesting to see if Jin intervenes and work with Kazuya to bring down both Heihachi and Akuma, but again we never know.
