If you are a PC owner wanting to get a taste of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, it looks like this weekend may be the perfect chance. The Multiplayer is now free to play on Steam until 1PM Pacific Time on Sunday.

While Black Ops 3 multiplayer is free the campaign mode is not, though I’m sure many won’t miss it. The game will also be discounted, ranging from 25% for the normal edition and 20% for the Digital Deluxe edition.

With the “mixed rating” from Steam reviews some people may be put off purchasing, but this is your chance to see just how the game plays on the PC. Looking at the actual reviews for a reason for this, many reveal that this is down to problems with the games release. Now with a few patches added, these problems are likely to be issues that are no longer an issue This makes it a game well worth checking out.

Providing a portion of the game for free over the weekend before Christmas obvious is a wise marketing move, especially to catch the attention of those looking for a late Christmas present. Many players are likely to give it a try and then put it straight on their list. This makes it a smart move by Activision.

While we know that the multiplayer is free, it will be interesting to see if Call of Duty Points are also available to people who take advantage of this weekend. If so, how many people who are taking up a free trial will be also buy Call of Duty Points? My guess on that one will be a low number.

I’m sure I’ll be downloading the game and seeing how it runs on my PC, will you? Let us know your thoughts below.
