Crystal Dynamics’ Head, Darrell Gallagher Quits after 10 Years!
The studio responsible for Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics, is not being run by Darrell Gallagher anymore, the developers have announced.
The official website of the development studio revealed the change of leadership through a post. Darrell Gallagher has been replaced by two “co-heads” namely Ron Rosenberg and Scot Amos. Here’s an excerpt from the post:
As we continue to grow our studio and portfolio, we have some exciting news to share: Ron Rosenberg and Scot Amos have been named as co-studio heads for Crystal Dynamics. Scot and Ron each bring a unique skill set and each will focus on owning different aspects of running a studio, while ultimately making all major decisions together.
However, the replacement did not happen just now, Crystal Dynamics is being run by the duo since a couple of months ago; they only just publicly announced it now.
This makes sense because if they had revealed the news while Rise of the Tomb Raider was being developed, the fans would have definitely panicked.
Both seasoned Crystal Dynamics veterans, Ron and Scot took over a few months ago, and the transition has been seamless. Now that we have a bit of breathing room after the launch, we wanted to formally introduce them in their new role to all of you.
Since Crystal Dynamics is a subsidiary of Square Enix, during his time with the studio Darrell Gallagher also took on the role of the head of product development and western studios at Square Enix. He quit both the responsibilities.
The CEO of Square Enix as well as others have shown their respect towards the veteran and said that they will “celebrate the sheer blood, sweat and tears he has put into our company over the last 10 years.”
Check back later to find out where is Gallagher headed next.
