Leaked Images Reveal a Cancelled Jurassic World Game
If there is one series of films that should provide a good basis for games, it has to be Jurassic Park. While we did get some good ones back in the days of the SNES and Megadrive other more recent attempts haven’t been so popular.
In a new article on Crave they’ve revealed some screens as well as test footage from a game based on Jurassic World. While we won’t get to play it, what is on show is very interesting. Especially for fans of H1Z1, Day Z and maybe even ARK: Survival Evolved.
As you can see from the video and images the initial concept for the game appears to fit in with the current popular “Survival” genre.
What it shows is a character similar to Chris Pratt’s character in Jurassic World moving around an unfinished games world. This is just an animation test, but the images of the dinosaurs hints as to what he would be sneaking around or escaping from.
This is similar to ARK: Survival Evolved, which has players trying to survive in a world dominated by dinosaurs. The difference with a Jurassic Park world though would be the different environment, which would draw the game to being something closer to H1Z1 or Day Z.
Crave state that the leaked information for the game says the only reason the game was cancelled was that the studio working on it was shut down. Plans would have been for it to be available on Steam, PSN and Xbox Live though it would not have been a full retail release.
LEGO Jurassic World shows that there is a fan base ready to play a game based on the films, so it is a shame that nothing came of this game. It does seem a perfect fit for a survival game, especially as ARK has shown that it can be done with dinosaurs.
