Halo 5 Guardians Multiplayer Arena Fathom Map Tips, Best Positions and Strategy

Halo 5 Update

Fathom is a symmetrical multiplayer map in Halo 5 Guardians that has a mix of close-range combat and long-ranged sight lines. This encourages players to equip themselves with versatile loadouts, and makes the centrally positioned Railgun one of the most important acquisitions, irrespective of what type of game mode you’re playing.

Game Modes
Slayer, Capture the Flag, Strongholds

Key Weapons & Power-ups
Railgun (2 minute respawn)
Active Camo (2 minute respawn)

Best Positions
Top Mid – The Top Mid houses the all-important Railgun, and is a vantage point that can give you significant control of the map. It’s an area where you can gain significant advantage from a disadvantageous area around the Top Mid with a single, well-maneuvered jump.

Treehouses – Both the Red and Blue Treehouses are extremely important parts of the map, since the Top Mid is often extremely dense and generally a huge hotspot.

In order to take advantage of this, using the tree-houses to either cover or attack Top Mid from range can be an extremely effective alternative to simply overwhelming the Top Mid. Just make sure you’re wary of who is controlling the second treehouse on the other side.

Fathom Map Tips and Strategy
The Railgun is the most important acquisition in the map, but make sure you don’t ignore the Active Camo. If you feel the other team has a significant advantage over you in-terms of 1v1, head towards the Active Camo at Bottom Mid instead of fighting to take control of Top Mid.

The map’s structure is such that it gives a variety of different attacking range options, meaning that even the Railgun wielder will have a significant disadvantage at close range. Use this to your advantage, especially if you’ve acquired the Active Camo, and take out the Railgun wielder.

A good alternative to the Railgun are the Light Rifle and Battle Rifle, both which can be used at the Treehouse to cross-cover Top Mid and also cross-fire at the enemy base.

If possible, combining the Railgun and Active Camp together can completely turn the tides of battle. This combination is absolutely deadly and can single-handedly win your team a losing match.

However, don’t make this your primary objective, as not only is acquiring both for the same player difficult, it can also become noticeable by the opposing team, who can quickly alter their tactics to defend one or both items.

Last but not least, make sure you don’t jump into the water when jumping to Top Mid from the Red or Blue subs.
