Destiny Elemental Primaries “Being Left Behind” Says Creative Director
It looks like Destiny developers are leaving behind some aspects of the game as they learn new things with the new version of the game.
Someone on NeoGAF had asked the Destiny fans over there if anyone was getting elemental weapons off of Oryx on Hard Mode.
Surprisingly, he got a reply from Luke Smith, the game’s creative director at Bungie who has also worked on Vault of Glass Raid as the lead designer. He clarified that developers were moving on from Elemental Primaries because they were limiting the choice of weapons.
Elemental primaries are being left behind. They had the distinct and undesirable property of limiting a broad weapon sandbox to a few weapons. You’re free to disagree, but I strongly prefer the breadth of arsenal options, the potential of finding a better Legendary than you have to being stuck because of a damage color.
As he pointed out, some might disagree but it is also a fact that having broader options is always good.
Also, if you check out the forums where Destiny is being discussed, you will see that a vast majority of the fanbase is welcoming this step. Do you agree if the game moves on from Elemental Legendaries in the year two?
