If like me you noticed Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain receiving an update on Steam, you’ll obviously wonder what improvements it was bringing. Looking at player reaction, it appears to have taken things away rather than doing anything positive.

Looking to Reddit to see user reaction it didn’t take long for people to notice what had been removed. What it appears to have removed so far is the golden bionic arm, and Quiet’s Sniper Wolf outfit. With the console versions of the game yet to receive such an update, it will be interesting to see if they are going to get the same impact when it finally hits.

At 180mb in size the patch isn’t that big, but with no patch notes yet revealed it’s a mystery as to what its job actually is. If the patch’s only purpose is to take away items from users it will no doubt be unpopular, and join the list of other strange decisions by Konami over the weeks since the game has been released.

Until we hear exactly what the patch was meant to do all we can do is wait, and also look for the console version to be released out into the world. No doubt if the patch does appear and start to take away items from those versions too the reaction will only get louder. For now, all we can do is wait and see where this story goes, and if players will be able to get their items back.

What are your thoughts on the new patch removing items from the game? Do you think they’ll be returned if this is a mistake?
