Director of Final Fantasy 15 Would Love to Work on a Zelda Title

Nintendo Switch release

When big names in the games industry like Hajime Tabata are asked what games they would like to work on sometimes they come up with unexpected answers. This was the case when he was asked what games license he would love to work on.

In an interview in the 600th edition of Dengeki Tabata was asked that very question, and his reply was interesting to say the least:

“The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

While we know that a Zelda game is coming in the future there is a lot of speculation as to just when this will be, or which of Nintendo’s consoles it will come out for (logic dictates that Nintendo NX would be the obvious choice, but for now it is planned for Wii U). Imagine him coming to Playstation 4 though and using the same engine as Final Fantasy 15? That would be the kind of scenario that dreams are made of.

The problem here of course is that it is something that will only remain a dream, and obviously one that Hajime Tabata shares with the fans. For now though we have to wait and see what Nintendo provide us with, and at least we know that we can trust them with a title like Zelda.

Final Fantasy is heading to Playstation 4 and Xbox One in 2016 with a Zelda game expected to come to the Wii U in the same year.
