The World’s First Wii U Emulator is Now Available For Download

CEMU 1.4.0c

Ladies and gentlemen, the world’s first Wii U emulator is now available to download. PC users can now emulate Wii U games on their platform with help from Cemu Wii U emulator.

Games run fine on it but not as well as they do on a Wii U console. There are no optimizations so do expect slow frame rates and long loading times. The good news is that internal resolution in 1080p, if the game supports it. Here are other details about Cemu:

  • Can run encrypted Wii U images (WUD) and RPX/RPL files
  • Internal resolution is 1920×1080 (if supported by game)
  • For controller input see here.
  • Contains basically no optimizations. Expect slow framerates and long load times.
  • Windows x64 only (other platforms may be supported later)
  • Requires OpenGL 3.3
Tested on NVIDIA: Runs fine on most recent driver
Tested on Intel: Garbled output but runs if OpenGL version is supported
    Untested on AMD

Unfortunately, there is no support for Wii U controller. Emulator support Wii U Gamepad via the keyboard. Moreover, audio is not yet supported and players can’t run extracted games on Cemu, files need to be in a raw dump format (WUD or ISO).

Developer has planned new updates that are scheduled to release every two weeks. If you wish to download Cemu,  visit the link and click on Cemu version 1.0.0. A file of 1.5MB will automatically start to download on your PC. You can also download the source code which is a single read.me file. It seems it is closed source, which fans believe isn’t a good sign for its progress.
