Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Digital Version Pulled From Amazon and Xbox Store
Update: According to Microsoft, they are working with Activision to bring back Black Ops 3 to Xbox Store:
We are actively engaged with Activision to return ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ to the Xbox Store as soon as possible. In the meantime, fans can pre-order ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ for Xbox One or Xbox 360 from any of a host of retail partners here.
If you were wondering Activision asked MS to remove it, they didn’t:
Activision did not remove the digital version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III from the Xbox Games Store. Black Ops III is ready for launch on November 6th and is the most anticipated game of the year. Black Ops III is available for pre-order or pre-purchase through our other retail partners worldwide
Activation’s statement was taken back to MS for clarification, to which they replied:
We do not comment on the specific terms of our arrangements with any of our publishing partners, however we are actively engaged with Activision to return ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ to the Xbox Store. In the meantime, fans can pre-order ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ for Xbox One or Xbox 360 from any of a host of retail partners here.
What the hell is up with Black Ops 3 Xbox One?
Original Story: It looks like Xbox One users won’t be able to download the digital version of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 from Xbox Store. Not only Xbox Store, but the digital version is no longer available at Amazon as well.
We thought of it as a mistake on Xbox Store, but seeing it removed from Amazon as well indicates that this is done due to the marketing deal between Sony and Activision. However, we can’t say that for sure until Sony, Microsoft or Activision comments on the matter.
Here’s an image from Amazon:
As you can see digital codes are available for both PS4 and PC, but not for Xbox One. Here’s a Tweet from a user who origianly broke the story:

In addition to the standard version, the digital deluxe edition is also missing. When we tried to preorder a digital copy of it from Xbox Store, we were greeted with a message saying that it is available at our local retailer.
The good news is that those who already pre-ordered won’t be affected, but new buyers should consider grabbing the physical copy of Black Ops 3 Xbox One.
Presumably, Activision has made the digital version exclusive to PlayStation 4, but why remove the season pass for Xbox One from Amazon and GAME?. We’ll have more updates for you as soon as the story further develops.
