Zangief Piledrives his way onto the Street Fighter 5 Roster

Russian game event the IgroMir has been taking place today, and Capcom have decided to use it as the place for another character reveal. Zangief the ‘Red Cyclone’ is piledriving his way into Street Fighter 5 ready to do battle.

Zangief, one of the most well-known of the Street Fighter combatants now joins the ever growing list of fighters. So far this includes Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, Vega, M. Bison, Birdie, Charlie Nash, Necalli, R. Mika, Rashid and Karin.

People who are at the IgroMir are able to try the character out in a new demo that is available there now. This may also hint that he may be in future beta versions, if Capcom decide to provide him as a character of course.

Zangief has always been known as the brute force opponent, slow but devastating. In Street Fighter 5 his skills will include his V-Skill, the Iron Muscle and his V-Trigger the Cyclone Lariat. People experienced with the character will obviously have a head start with how to use him, but there are still plenty of new tactics that can be put into effect during battle. You can see his new fighting style in the trailer that was used in his reveal.

With Zangief now being confirmed in the game that leaves one more classic character and two all new-characters still to be revealed. While this restricts some of the characters from the past from being in the main roster, don’t worry though there still may be further characters in the future in the way of DLC additions. This means that fans of characters like Alex and Urien should not give up hope.
