Alien: Isolation – The Collection Coming to Mac and Linux

One of the best games of last year, Alien: Isolation is being ported over to the Mac and Linux. This will be handled by Feral Interactive who provided the details of the release.

The game which will be called Alien: Isolation – The Collection which will include all of the DLC that was originally released with Creative Assembly’s game. To celebrate the release a new trailer was revealed, as well as the minimum system requirements for both versions:

Mac

  • 2.0Ghz CPU with at least 4GB RAM
  • 1GB or better graphics card
  • Mac OS 10.10.4 or later
  • AMD 5000 series graphics card or better, NVIDIA 600 series or better and Intel Iris Pro series graphics card or better

Linux

  • 2.6Ghz Dual-Core CPU with at least 4GB RAM
  • 1GB or better graphics card
  • Ubuntu 14.04 (64bit) or SteamOS
  • The game requires an NVIDIA 600 series graphics card or better running Driver version 355.11 or better. Intel AMD and GPUs are not supported
  • A Steam account is required

While the Linux version requires Steam, the Mac will make the game available on the App Store too. The release date for Alien Isolation: The Collection is September 29, so less than a week away.

Even though the game has been out for some time now, it is still popular enough to still catch gamer’s attention, especially those wanting to play it on the Mac or Steam. The fact that it will be compatible with Linux will also move it onto SteamOS. For Mac users though any move of major releases increases the relatively small number of games available.
