Destiny: The Taken King Light Levels

With the launch of expansion, Bungie decided to do away with Light Levels in favor of XP leveling. Despite that, you need to Light in order to complete certain missions such as the ones in Hard Mode.

This guide provides an overview of everything you need to know about increasing your Light Level in the game.

Equip Better Pieces of Armor and Weapons
Unlike what you’re used to, you no longer need specific gear in order to increase your character’s Light Level. Instead, everything that you can equip in the game increases your character’s Light Level.

Found anything better than your current gear? Equip it and you’ll notice your Light Level going up.

Destiny: The Taken King has an insanely rewarding loot system and you’ll find yourself getting better gear every few hours. You need to take advantage of the whole thing and continue to equip better gear in order to increase your Light Levels.

Keep Everything at Your Disposal
One of the most important things to bear in mind is never discard anything without closely analyzing it first. You should definitely consider eyeing different attributes and perks before deciding to discard an item.

However, another thing that you need to bear in mind is not to go changing your equipment or weapon if it provides you a negligible Light Level boost.

Carefully analyze each and every component and don’t go for a piece of equipment if you’re only going for it because of 10-15 Light Level boost.

Completing Strikes and Other Activities
Like I’ve already mentioned, the latest expansion is extremely generous when it comes to loot, but don’t expect to find Legendaries lying in low level zones.

You should consider tackling things like Strikes, Story Missions, and other activities in your Quest Log to find some high-level weapons and equipment with high Light Level boosts.

However, when we talk about Legendaries, don’t forget that Common Items might provide you with better Light Levels than Legendaries as discussed in the previous point.

Once again, check everything at your disposal and then decide what is it that you require to gain maximum Light Level bonus.

Equip Artifacts, Ghost Shell and Class Items
Lastly, you should definitely consider equipping defensive items such as Artifacts, Ghost Shells and Class Items which will eventually translate into a higher Light Level.

This is pretty much everything we’ve on how to improve Light Level in Destiny: The Taken King. If there is something else you would like to know, make sure to let us know in the comments section below!
