Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Story Trailer Gives it an Epic Feel
With the release of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection coming October 9 the marketing machine is in full swing. Today Naughty Dog have revealed a new story trailer for the collection.
In a mash-up of cut scenes from the three games that will be included, the trailer begins with us seeing Drake as a child in his first encounter with Sully. From there we see the story of the Nathan Drake Collection in what feels to be an epic form.
Rather than making the game feel like an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider rip-off, they show how strong the Uncharted games have become as an entity in their own right. Not only does this work well to remind fans of the games, but also is a good lead into Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End too.
As a fan of the original three games, I’ve not played them in a few years but I’ll admit that this trailer did make me want to re-visit them. This of course means that it is doing its job well. With the plan of enticing people to buy the collection to play through them once again, I think that this may be job done.
For those who have not played the game before, there could be a few spoilers in the trailer but it does feel that while many scenes are shown no real details are provided as to what we are seeing. That is why I don’t really feel the need to explicitly warn about spoilers. As always though, this does depend on what your definition of a spoiler is, and I’m sure you’ll go into this one fully aware of what you’ll be seeing.
