Assassin’s Creed Movie to Share Continuity with Game Franchise

By   /   Aug 28, 2015

With the first look at Michael Fassbender in Assassin’s Creed, we were also given an official synopsis for the film. While this revealed some interesting details it gave little away as the the connection to the games.

On Twitter though we’ve been given a clue as to how close to the game, comics and books based around Assassin’s Creed, the film will be:

The tweet comes from Head of Content for Assassin’s Creed Aymar Azaizia, in another tweet they also teased that we may see some familiar faces:

This is interesting when you look at the official synopsis for the movie:

“Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.”

We know that the events in Assassin’s Creed 2 take place in Italy also in the 15th Century, so does this mean that Aguilar could cross paths with Ezio? Will Callum meet Desmond Miles? There are definitely some interesting avenues for the film to take, if done right.

We also have to remember though that as a movie this version of Assassin’s Creed has to also appeal to the mainstream audience who may not have played the game. So don’t expect it to go too deeply into Assassin’s Creed lore.

What are your thoughts on the Assassin’s Creed movie and the comments by Aymar Azaizia? Let us know your thoughts below.
