Madden NFL 16 MUT Defensive Builds

Our guide is designed to provide different Defensive Builds for various playstyles.

However, do note that none of the builds are set in stone. These are intended to provide you with an outline and you can always make some necessary adjustments to come up with a unique build of yours.

Team Build #1

There is no doubt that stopping the runs can win games in Madden Ultimate Team and this is exactly what this build focuses on. This build allows you to slow down your opponent without needing to put extra resources into the box in order to stop the run.

The idea behind this build is to get your opponent into certain passing situations and then ramp up the blitzing pressure. Here is the order in which you ought to upgrade your positions:

DT – BSH
MLB – PUR
SS – POW
DE – STR
OLB – TAK

Coming to recommended playbooks, you should consider going with New York Jets, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings.

Recommended Cards
Elite – Cameron Wake and Von Miller
Gold – Michael Brockers and Julius Peppers
Silver – Jesse Williams and Johnathan Casillas

Team Build #2

This build revolves around pass-rushing defense which does not give the offense enough time to let the routes develop.

One of the best things about this build is that you can force your entire opponent team to change the gameplan by simply putting pressure from your front four linemen – even without sending blitzes.

I cannot put enough emphasis on the importance of spending on the pass-rushing players and the value they will add to your team. Here is the order in which you need to upgrade your positions:

DE – PMV
OLB – FMV
DT – PMV
FS – ZCS
CB – MCV

As for the playbooks, I recommend going with Buffalo Bills, Kansa City Chiefs, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Recommended Cards
Elite – J. J. Watt and Justin Houston
Gold – Cameron Heyward and Anthony Barr
Silver – Mario Edwards Jr. and Dezman Moses

Team Build #3

This build essentially relies on players in the LB corps and secondary with excellent zone coverage. In case you decide to go with this build, you need to learn how to use coverage shading which will let your to get into best position after the snaps.

In addition tot this, you can always mix your coverage calls to send pressure and keep your opponent all confused up throughout the game. Here is the order in which you need to upgrade your positions:

CB – ZCV
FS – SPD
MLB – PRC
SS – ZCV
OLB – PRC

Coming to playbooks, you need to go with Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, or Tempa Bay Buccaneers

Gold – Brian Cushing and Prince Amukamara

Team Build #4

Those who have been following Madden will know that Man Coverage has seen some vast changes in Madden NFL 16 and this is exactly what this build focuses on. This basically allows you to slow down your opponent’s favorite targets e.g. corner routes.

The idea behind the entire build is to bring a mix of press of some zoning frequently in order to accumulate some quick wins. Here is the order in which you need to upgrade your positions:

CB – MCV
FS – ZCV
OLB – PUR
SS – ZCV
MLB – PRC
