Metal Gear Solid 5 Was Most Trending Game at Gamescom; Xbox One Topped PS4

Trend analysis is a fun thing, looking into trends often reveals statistics and figures that are not otherwise understandable for instance, did you know that Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain was the most trending title at Gamescom 2015? Or that Xbox One was talked about more than PlayStation 4?

These new details were revealed recently based on media coverage of Gamescom 2015 where the popularity of platforms, games as well as Gamescom itself (as compared to the past and E3 2015) was gauged.

Based on the data, Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain won over the most hearts with a large margin when it comes to media coverage. The game developers certainly had a lot to share too, which would account for the almost 2000 article written on it by the media.

This compares to less than 1500 articles on Star Wars Battlefront which came in at number two among the most discussed games during the Gamescom 2015 period and some 1300 articles for World of Warcraft.

Interestingly, Quantum Break and Final Fantasy XV got almost the same amount of attention.

When it comes to consoles (keeping in mind that Sony had no media briefings this time around), Xbox One got the most of the publicity and went on to garner more attention than PlayStation 4 this year, Xbox One last year and even PlayStation 4 last year!
