Half Life 2 on Unreal Engine 4 is Stunning to Say the Least
Half Life 2 originally came out in 2004 and for the decade that followed, everyone has been hoping, yearning, and praying to play Half Life 3 though all we get for it are alleged leaks and unconfirmed release rumors. However, fans don’t stop showing Valve what they could be doing right now.
For instance, Liam Tart a 3D artist decided to redo some scenes from Half Life 2 using Unreal Engine 4 technology and the results are – as expected – glorious.
There is a lot of difference between the technological capabilities of 2004 and the advancements that have been made in the field by now which brings us back to what a new game in the series could look like.
In the gallery attached below you will be able to revisit the Apartment 17. While you will notice that the 3D artist has, in many cases, switched the textures and effects but that has not been at the cost of the Half Life 2 famed environment.
As you can see, everything looks pretty detailed and much more realistic than it used to be back in the days. So yeah, if Gabe decides to actually start work on Half Life 3, I bet we can expect this, or better!
