Torchlight Developers Runic Games Reveal Hob, Coming to PC and Consoles
Runic Games, the developers behind Torchlight have revealed their latest game. Along with a teaser trailer and description of the game, a countdown to PAX Prime is also on the game website as a hint of when more will be revealed.
Called Hob, the description we are given on the website is:
“The darkness rumbles to life.
Massive gears turn their teeth, shifting ancient monoliths into place.
A door opens.
Dappled forest light beckons you from your chamber, entering an unknown world both beautiful and dangerous, buzzing with life above and whirring with mysterious machinery below.
Hob is a vibrant, suspenseful adventure game. As players delve into the mysteries around them, they discover a planet in peril. Can it be mended, or will the world fall further into chaos?
Hob is presented without text or dialogue. Narrative is revealed as players explore and interact with their unfamiliar surroundings and the strange life forms that inhabit it. The third title from developer Runic Games, Hob is being developed for PC and console, featuring smooth controller gameplay, multi-layered puzzles, and striking visuals.”
As you can see from the trailer a platformer where strange monoliths are constantly changing, and as the player we’ll have to work out just why. Typical of games like this, it appears it wants the player to form their own view of the story by exploring and finding out exactly what is happening.
What is the secret of the monoliths and the machinery controlling them? Hopefully that will be saved for when we play the game, and not spoilt by demonstrations or previews/reviews. At the moment it is a game of mystery, hopefully it can stay that way.
From the trailer and description does Hob provide enough details to catch your interest? Let us know your thoughts below.
