Civilization Beyond Earth

Just hours ago, Civilization: Beyond Earth became free to play this weekend only on Steam as an incentive to get you to buy the newly available “Rising Tide” expansion pack pre-order.

Any newcomers to Beyond Earth will have until August 17th at 10am Pacific to download and play the game, and if you buy on Steam this weekend, the game is half price at $19.99. Granted, Firaxis also wouldn’t mind you picking up the new “Rising Tide” expansion for $26.99… but you might want to shop elsewhere to get it cheaper.

The best pre-order deal resides at Green Man Gaming as of writing, which was also made available hours ago. At GMG, the game can be cut 23% off after applying a site-wide coupon code they’re running this week, lowering the final price to only $23.10.

This compares to the meager 10% off at Steam Store for the same expansion. Other related deals for this weekend are also listed below:

While Sid Meier’s Starships didn’t exactly win critics’ rave reviews, the game can be an integral part of the Beyond Earth series and will be integrated into Beyond Earth later this year.
