Rise of the Tomb Raider Gamescom Demo Finally Enters the Tombs
Gamescom 2015 may be over but that doesn’t mean that the conference stops providing us with some real gaming treasures. Today the Rise of the Tomb Raider Gamescom Demo video was released for us all to see.
What is impressive about the demonstration is that we get to see things that we’ve only read about in the past. This includes the impressive size of the hub sections of the game. Also on show is the translation system where Lara’s Language Proficiency grows with each historical object she discovers.
What is more important though is that we get to see some real tomb exploration, which was something the past game lacked. Solving environmental puzzles and escaping from traps, in this demo it really feels like a merging between what was done right in the remake, and the foundations laid in the past.
Hopefully there will be more of a focus on tombs in Rise of the Tomb Raider, because from what I’ve seen in this demo the story telling and action really add to the impressive visuals of the game. It looks like Crystal Dynamics are on the right track with this sequel.
In the game Lara will have to do battle with Trinity as she races to find the secret of immortality before they do. I’m assuming that the enemies in this demo are in fact Trinity, hot on the trail of whatever Lara is searching for in the tomb.
Personally this is the first video for Rise of the Tomb Raider that has really made me want to play the game. It looks impressive, plays impressive and hopefully the game that we are provided with will be what we see in the trailer.
