Uncharted 4 Still “Early in Development”, is that a Worry?
While Sony may not have had a press conference at Gamescom 2015, they still had a presence at the event. This included Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, one of the most anticipated games for next year.
While talking to a Naughty Dog rep, GameReactor managed to gain some interesting pieces of information. One of them was about collectables:
“Collectibles are maybe in the game,” a Naughty Dog rep told us during a demonstration of the game during Gamescom. “We’re pretty early in development. We are thinking about it.”
With the mention of being in early stage of development, this led to them asking if the feature list for the game was complete, the reply they received was:
“Typically we pull things in and out and see if they fit while we develop a game. It’s the same with Uncharted 4.”
While the answer didn’t provide too many details it does show that the game is still in development, and new things could still be revealed. Should we be surprised that they are still working on it? Not really. Yes, we’ve seen demonstrations that look very good, but with the release coming in 2016 there is still time to complete the game.
The fact we are in the second half of 2015 though may cause some people to question just when the game will be released, will it be later in 2016 than originally planned? Before we panic, maybe we should note that it was a Naughty Dog rep who provided this information, it is not official and we don’t really know what “early in development” actually means in terms of Naughty Dog’s development process.
Could Uncharted 4 become delayed some time in the future? Quite possibly. I’d not worry too much by what was said at Gamescom though until we hear of any delays officially announced. Still, it’s an interesting piece of speculation at least.
