Gears 4 Focuses on Unique Aspects Which Made the Original ‘Gears of War’
The new studio developing Gears of War, The Coalition, is taking the upcoming Gears 4 in a new direction.
In an interview with IGN; Rod Fergusson of The Coalition said that he wanted the upcoming game to be a tad darker, more intriguing, and scary. By doing this, Fergusson hopes to change the course of the game from Locust War to something which was depicted in the original game:
We’re going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious; being afraid of the boogeyman.
He added that the reason of featuring new protagonists – Kait and JD – is because they will be more prone to be impacted by the story and will be more impressionable than veterans such as Marcus Fenix. Moreover, Gears 4 will leave certain things open to a player’s interpretation – there will be no black and white stories in the game.
Lastly, Fergusson said that instead of developing another shooter, The Coalition is focusing on unique aspects which made the Gears of War:
Rather than follow those games, I’d rather lead by being true to what makes Gears; Gears. That’s why we’re going back to co-op, the two of you sharing that experience.
Gears 4 is scheduled to release sometime next year in 2016 and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will release on Aug. 25, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One.
