EA Gamescom 2015

Electronic Arts managed to put up a fairly decent show during its Gamescom 2015 Press Conference. In case you missed it and tuning in just now; here is each and everything EA showed in its hour-long presentation.

Note: I have provided a summary of each showing or announcement below; you can check the hyperlinks for more details and accompanying video footage.

Need for Speed
The show opened up with the upcoming Need for Speed. The studio outlined how the narrative of the game will unfold and how the game will mix live-action sequences with the gameplay. The game will feature real world ‘automotive icons’ that will play a major part in the plot of the upcoming Need for Speed.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
Next up we had Senior Producer of Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, Sara Jansson, sharing a pre-alpha footage of the game. She explained how the game protagonist, Faith, is different from other mainstream heroes and heroines and how the in-game world and events transformed her. The footage that we saw was brimming with parkour skills, wallrunning, and truly epic running sequences.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
The much awaited Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 solo mode came in next during EA’s Gamescom 2015 Press Conference. Dubbed as Backyard Battleground, the game mode will allow players to complete various quests, challenges, and so much more. Moreover, the studio combined the worlds of Mass Effect and Plants vs. Zombies and created a Z7 (after N7 from Mass Effect) mech suit which will be available as a pre-order bonus.

Star Wars: Battlefront
As expected, EA came up with a complete reveal of Star Wars: Battlefront Fighter Squadron Mode which supports upto 20-players and features intense aerial combat sequences. Each ship in the game will have its unique abilities and players will also be able to use Boba Fett’s iconic Slave I ship.

Probably the best thing, at least for me, about EA’s conference was Unravel. We saw Yarny trying to cross a water-flooded area using yarn and multiple things found in environment. The physics-based game looks and feels adorable as ever and offers multiple ways to solve puzzles depending upon a player’s imagination.

FIFA 16 FUT Draft
The show ended with EA Sports announcing FIFA 16 FUT Draft which will allow a player to choose a captain before going in and choosing various international stars. Furthermore, the studio outlined different changes made to the game Career Mode and celebrations. Oh, and the studio also gave away 4 tickets to Real Madrid versus Barca football match to online viewers and show’s attendees.

The Sims 4 and Star Wars: The Old Republic ‘The Fallen Empire’
Other notable announcements include The Sims 4: Get Together expansion pack which is scheduled to release in November 2015. In addition to The Sims 4: Get Together expansion, EA also announced Star Wars: The Old Republic ‘The Fallen Empire’ expansion pack which will be free at launch.

That’s pretty much all you need to know about EA’s Gamescom 2015 Press Conference. What do you think was the best thing about the presentation; let us know in the comments section below!
