Diablo 3 Kanai’s Cube Powers, Lore Detailed by Blizzard
When Blizzard Entertainment released the changelog for Patch 2.3.0 you would have wanted to know more about the Kanai’s Cube that is going to grace Diablo 3 and allegedly change up the game in a lot of ways.
Let’s talk about the story behind the cube first. So the Kanai’s Cube is actually a precursor to the Horadric Cube, it is much more powerful and the lore goes:
Originally simply known as “the Cube,” the Horadrim created it as a tool to aid them in the Hunt for the Three. However, its creation was marred by dark methods and disastrous results, resulting in the order quickly determining that it was too dangerous for anyone to continue using. Creating the weaker Horadric Cube in its stead, they entrusted the first Cube to a secret organization of barbarians on Mount Arreat, who kept it safe from everyone, including the rest of their tribe.
Moving on to the powers, developers of Diablo 3 have explained that it is a “handyman’s (handynephalem’s?) tool for item customization.”
Using one of its powers, you will be able to extract Legendary powers from items and add them to your collection list of powers hence allowing you to equip that power even if the item is not equipped.
At any given point you can equip one power from each of these categories:
- Weapons – Includes all main hand and off-hand items, including Shields, Mojos, Quivers, and the like
- Armor – Virtually everything else; Hands, Legs, Feet, Chest, Belt, Wrists, Shoulders, and Head
- Jewelry – Rings and Amulets
