Battlefield 5 Confirmed for 2016 by Electronic Arts’ CFO
If you were wondering what Electronic Arts has planned regarding Battlefield 5, we have a welcome confirmation for you that the game is most definitely coming in 2016!
The news came out from the recently shared earnings call of the company where there chief financial officer, Blake Jorgensen, was talking to the stakeholders about future plans regarding old franchises.
Although he did not mention Battlefield 5 specifically, we have enough evidence to figure out that is what the next game is going to be. Any how, here’s his comment regarding the issue:
What we’ve said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles. This year, obviously, it’s Star Wars Battlefront. Next year, it’s another Battlefield title.
So why would it be Battlefield 5? Well, we have seen Visceral Games develop Battlefield Hardline this year and before that Battlefield 4 was developed by DICE.
So it is highly unlikely that Visceral Games would be tasked with another title and also by 2016 it would have been two years since BF4’s release suggesting that BF5 should be the choice, instead of any other.
The confirmation by Jorgensen also highlights how Electronic Arts might be looking at turning the series into something like an annualized franchise despite having stated the contrary.
Any ideas regarding the choices that should be made with Battlefield 5? Or would you rather have a Bad Company title?
