Things appear to be happening once again in the world of Resident Evil, all under the name “Umbrella Corps.” Could this be the next game in the franchise? If so, what will it be?

The rumours around the Umbrella Corps game came when a trademark was discovered in Europe. The “Biohazard Umbrella Corps” trademark which can be seen on Dualshockers lets us know that this is a Resident Evil game.

As the site states, this is a registration for the full range of gaming platforms, not only consoles but also mobile devices. While no details are given as to what the game will be, the fact that Biohazard is featured in the name is very specific.

Biohazard is the original Japanese name for Resident Evil, and Umbrella is the corrupt pharmaceutical company that was behind the “T-Virus,” the origins of the zombie outbreak. To guess what a game based around Umbrella could be is tricky, but hopefully if this is Resident Evil 7, it will be in improvement on the last game.

This will also be a chance to move away from the reboots that we’ve been seeing recently. Resident Evil and soon Resident Evil 0 are keeping the fans happy to some extent and Resident Evil Revelations has been a good spin-off but we need something a little more substantial.
