Nintendo TVii Shuts Down in About Two Weeks From Now

By   /   Jul 25, 2015

It appears that after investing three whole years into it, Nintendo TVii has been marked as no good. The company has announced closure of the free television based service.

The service was launched on December 8, 2012 in Japan and on December 20, 2012 in North America. However, ever since June 2014 we have been noticing that Nintendo was losing interest in it because that was the last time they updated Nintendo TVii.

Finally, the company has announced that they will finally put it to rest on August 11, 2015 at 3PM Pacific Time. The announcement came though the Miiverse account of NintendoSarah:

After almost 3 years of finding, watching and engaging with Nintendo TVii, we will be ending the service on August 11, 2015 at 3:00pm PT. At the same time, we will be closing the Nintendo TVii Miiverse community.

We sincerely thank you for all of your engagement within the community and the Nintendo TVii service. We look forward to your contributions within our many other Miiverse communities.

So far Nintendo has not revealed any plans regarding a replacement service for this which means we are in the dark when it comes to their future plans. I am expecting Nintendo to share more on whether they think a TV based service is needed or not.

AS far as the fans are concerned I am not sure a lot of us would be missing Nintendo TVii.
