Fallout 4 Character Progression, Companions, Romancing and More
Alright so everything that Bethesda threw our way at the E3 demo of Fallout 4 was super dope; but a few things that were discussed only now at QuakeCon include how the progression system works and the companions that you are going to get.
Talking about the progression system first, let us tell you that the impact of your S.P.E.C.I.A.L is going to be much greater on your character when you are playing the new Fallout.
Being an acronym for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck, these characteristics can be unlocked and upgraded whenever you are leveling up.
As a result you get new abilities and skills to do certain things. There are a total of 70 perks attached to each category and they can all be upgraded. Mathematically you are looking at 275 unlockable things.
For example a given point in a certain category will get you a choice between a number of perks to choose from, say you have 7 out of 10 points in Luck when you level up, you get to choose from seven different perks linked to Luck.
Next up we now know a new companion that is going to be with you in Fallout 4, it is a female character named Piper who is an editor for Public Occurrences newspaper in Diamond City and it looks like she is good with dialogue.
Other companions we know of so far include Dogmeat, Codsworth and Preston Garvey among a total of 12. Todd Howard made things a bit more interesting by adding that “with the humans, it can even lead to romances, and that is regardless of whatever gender you’re playing.”
We have a lot more to share about Fallout 4 thanks to QuakeCon, so stay tuned!
