Capcom Reveal Street Fighter 5’s First Brand New Character

By   /   1 year ago

At EVO 2015, Capcom put on a Street Fighter 5 panel to discuss the new game. While everybody expected a new character to be revealed then it ended with a hint that the character would come after the finals took place at the end of the event.

Today this character has been revealed in the form of Necalli, Street Fighter 5’s first brand new character never seen before in the game series.

Necalli possessed a wide variety of savage and close range attacks. His moves have been created with a focus on inflicting the maximum pain upon his opponents, which use the full range of his Battle System mechanics.

The character’s V-Skill allow him to pound the ground with both fists. This in turn creates an explosive damage to the enemy which will then trigger his more powerful V-Trigger mode. Releasing what is described at this time as “mysterious energy” that changes his hair colour and alters his personality for a brief period of time this makes him even more viscous in combat.

Capcom say they will be releasing more information about Necalli, his storyline and origin in the coming months.

Also revealed at Evo 2015 was the new payment model for the game which will require only the initial disc an essential purchase. The rest can be purchased by “Fight Money,” which is earned through gameplay. While real world money can be used to speed things up, this means that all new characters that arrive by DLC can be earned rather than paid for.

Street Fighter 5 is exclusive to Playstation 4 and PC and will be released Spring 2016. The first online Beta begins July 23 across North America and July 24 across Europe. This initial phase will be Playstation 4 only, but PC testing will come in the second phase.
