Playstation Network is Down for PS3 and Playstation 4, Sony is Aware of the Issue
The Playstation Network appears to be down with online games, the video service and Playstation Store being effected. Bungie have already been Tweeting that they are aware of the problems that are affecting players of Destiny.
Sony have also updated their Playstation Network status page with the following information:
Gaming and Social (PS4, PS3)
You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. We appreciate your patience while we address this.
PlayStation Video (PS4, PS3)
You may be experiencing issues related accessing Video Unlimited content. We appreciate your patience while we address this.
PlayStation Store (PS4, PS3)
You may be experiencing issues related to features on PlayStation Store [including Purchase, Download, Search, Browse, and Redeem Voucher]. We appreciate your patience while we address this.
With these being the most popular services that users use this is going to cause much annoyance, especially for people looking to use the service for online gaming. This downtime isn’t planned so Sony will obviously be working hard to work out what has gone wrong and fix it as soon as possible.
While problems like this could be down to DDOS attacks hopefully this won’t be the case, the service will be back up soon, and people can get back to their gaming, watching videos and of course spending more money in the store.
The fact that Sony will be losing money the longer the service down, and their users getting more annoyed will obviously push them to get the service back up.
