Halo 5: Guardians HUD Design Will be Different in Multiplayer and Campaign

In first person shooter games the Head UP Display (HUD) is one of the most important tools that the gamer can have. Providing all the information that they need in battle, if the design is not well balanced, it can have a detrimental effect on gameplay.

When it comes to Halo it is fair to say that the HUD has worked well in the game and updates have adapted the user experience to suit the way the games have evolved. This is something that looks to be even more important in Halo 5: Guardians.

When asked about if the HUD will be different for each armour in the game, Josh Holmes the studio head of 343 Industries had this to say on Twitter:

This means that each character that we take control of in the game will have a unique feel based on their own HUD design. When it came to multiplayer he also revealed:

For fans of this mode, this is interesting as it means you as the “character” have your own HUD, which while more streamlined than in the campaign mode. You’ll be able to wear whatever armour you want and your HUD will not be affected.
