Kingdom Come: Deliverance Looks Stunning Even in Alpha
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, described as a “realistic open world first person medieval RPG” may still be in development but how good it looks even in alpha will stun you.
Using the CryEngine 3 it comes as no surprise that the screens look so good. The engine is known for its ability to create beautiful graphics, though often this focus on beauty leads to the games created on it lacking a certain gameplay quality.
This is not saying that this will be a case for Kingdom Come: Deliverance of course, but looking at the Crysis games as an example they have had a history of being a lot about graphical impressiveness and less about actual gameplay.
With a game like this still in Alpha though, looking this good can be a good marketing tool. Gameplay while also important can be refined later. What is important right now is to get enough people funding the project for the development team to be able to do such work.
Looking at the games website they say their aim is to create the “freedom and mechanics of Skyrim, the setting of Mount and Blade, the storytelling of The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption, and the tough dynamic combat of Dark Souls.”
Just looking at the games mentioned that is some lofty goals, especially when compared with The Witcher 3. It’ll be interesting to see if that description of the game was written before CD Projekt Red’s game.
Hopefully Kingdom Come: Deliverance can be released so we can see it in its final form. A beautiful looking game, it definitely looks promising.
