FIFA 16

EA Sports likes to make a big reveal for the cover of its games especially which big name star they have chosen to put on there. This is no surprise as they do hold the licenses for some of the most popular sports in the world, especially football and FIFA.

FIFA 16 will feature Lionel Messi on the front of the global cover. It comes as no surprise really that Messi will be a focus for the game, especially when he is one of the best players in the world.

This cover though is not the only one that will be available as voting is still open for certain regions to select who will join him on region specific covers. These regions are United Kingdom, France, Australia, Latin America and Mexico.

Looking at the regions where voting choices have been provided this is interesting based on the popularity of the game. With interest in the sport growing in America and some of the biggest stars moving to their teams, it’s interesting that this region has not been chosen, as well as Spain, Germany and Italy where the game is very popular too.

Another interesting note is that the Australian region is the only one that appears to give choices from the female players. With the success of the World Cup this is another area of the game that will no doubt see a growth in interest too.

Whatever the reason for the regional choices, the fact remains that Messi is once again the focus of the game’s cover. I’m sure his fans will be happy with this while others will question why other major stars don’t get a chance for a change.

Voting for the regional covers ends July 5, with the results getting revealed on July 8.

FIFA 16 is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PC in September.
