Is Red Ash the Spiritual Successor to Mega Man Legends by Keiji Inafune?
Since Mighty No. 9 used Kickstarter to get funding there has been a lot of excitement around the game created by Keiji Inafune. With more of a passing resemblance to Mega Man who he of course was the co-designer of, this was seen as the closest thing to a new Mega Man.
With the upcoming Anime Expo, a video appeared on the Kickstarter page teasing the next project for the company working on Mighty No.9, Studio 4°C and this has caused quite a bit of excitement with fans.
If you are a fan of Mega Man Legends watch the video and take notice of the characters that are teased, as well as some of the locations. The fact that “Legends” is mentioned so many times is also a hint at what this game, named Red Ash may be.
Fans are speculating that this is going to be the spiritual successor to the popular Mega Man legends. Looking at the video fans have noticed that there is influence from Mega Man Volnutt, Roll, Teisel and Tron. Look at Rockman-corner’s article to see a greater analysis of the video by somebody who obviously has a lot of knowledge of Mega Man Legends and what the hints in the video actually relate to.
Even for the more casual Mega Man fan, or anybody who has followed the Mighty No.9 Kickstarter campaign, this is an interesting teaser, especially with the fans reaction.
Are they reading too much into it? The hints seem to be there obviously to get their attention and to tease to a big reveal at the Anime Expo, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing more then.
