Yu Suzuki Wants Shenmue and Shenmue II HD Remakes
The iconic developer behind Shenmue series want to see HD ports of Shenmue and Shenmue II. SEGA owns the rights to both of these games so it is easier said than done.
However, Yu Suzuki fully intends to convince SEGA for HD versions of these popular games. Yu Suzuki revealed his plans during a recent Q&A on Twitch.
HD remakes of both these games is completely up to SEGA, so keep your expectations in check. Yu Suzuki is currently gathering funds for Shenmue III on kickstarter with a goal of $2 million.
However, The game went past $2 million in just 24 hours and with still 18 days to go, the game has already received $3.7 million in crowdfunding at the time to this writing.
According to the game’s Kickstarter page:
Shenmue 3 is the true sequel to the classic open world action RPG games, Shenmue and Shenmue 2. Created for modern platforms (PC and PlayStation 4) and built in Unreal 4, Shenmue 3 will continue the legacy of Shenmue.
Players will see familiar elements in the game on top of a new fighting mechanic “to achieve a new level of interactive storytelling.”
