Skyrim 2 Won’t be ‘Spit Out’ in a Rush, Bethesda is Not Like Others
Now that Fallout 4 has been revealed and we know that it is heading our way this year the next question on some people’s lips is “when will they announce Skyrim 2?” This is a fair question because of the success that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim had, but really it’s a bit too soon to reveal it, if it’s even being worked on.
It is clear that Bethesda want to put their full focus when it comes to roleplaying games on Fallout 4 now, and for the Elder Scrolls fans to focus on the online game. To announce Skyrim 2 now would probably take some attention off Fallout 4 and this is obviously not a good thing.
Even with this, in a recent interview with the Telegraph Bethesda’s Pete Hines, the vice president of marketing and public relations did make a comment on Skyrim 2:
“It’s rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about “when is Skyrim 2 coming out?” Generally speaking that’s what you’d be getting with another publisher in charge. They’d be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That’s just not how we view it.”
This confirms what I said above, while also taking a swipe at some other companies who tend to rush sequels out. Which one he was aiming it at is open to interpretation but there are many companies that would fit the bill.
As a Bethesda fan I’d rather not have them rush the next Elder Scrolls out, especially so close to Fallout 4. Both Fallout and Elder Scrolls games tend to have similar traits, and on the sheer size of the game I’d hate to have to choose between which to play. I’d rather them concentrate on making Fallout 4 as good as it can be, then reveal some Skyrim 2 details after.
