In today’s video, we discuss something subjective – are video game remasters good or bad? And...
Could Call of Duty Favorites be in Line for Remastering?
Fans of Call of Duty all have their favorites from the past, just ask them and they’ll probably mention how they never want to see Call of Duty: Ghosts again, but have fond memories of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
With that one being a previous generation release the question of a remaster keeps on coming up. With plenty of Call of Duty games to choose from there could be quite a list that could be looked at.
This is probably why the Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg was asked in a recent interview with GameInformer if there is likely to be any remasters coming. His reply was:
“If done well, I think [remasters] can be great. You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle. It’s always the opportunity cost, meaning we need every body we can get to make the content we’re already committed to for our new games. It’s always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There’s certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it’s something we talk about and think about a lot.”
It is interesting to note that the company have talked about the possibility so it shows that this could actually happen. Maybe if Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 does not meet the expectations of the fans then a remaster of one of their past favorites could be a nice alternative.
Though if none are yet in development the chances of this are probably unlikely, and Black Ops 3 is unlikely to let us down. Though I’m sure we all thought that about Ghosts too.
