The 3D puzzle solving platformer The Witness seems to get bigger every time we take a look at it, and it’s happened once again. Apparently, the game could take you up to 70 hours to complete if you chose to do everything in it.

Designer Jonathan Blow is extremely ambitious about his work, and he’s committed to making The Witness the biggest, most expansive platformer in history. News of the game’s development has been around for quite a while now, but it makes sense why the completion of the puzzler is taking so long.

Jonathan is making it clear that every part of the 70 hours would be unique in a certain way, without repetitions or reiterations. Of course, he’s also made it clear that the 70 hour mark is only if you’re a completionist, looking to finish each and every optional content that comes your way.

For those who are more direct, there’s obviously a critical path one can take.

Jonathan also explained how it took one of the devs in the office 8 full days’ time to finish the game, yet even then he had ‘only’ gone through 97% of the total game content.

There’s still no official word on when the game is going to be released, but we expect it to be finished this year and available of PC and PlayStation 4.
